Timberwolf Creek  ~  Smokey Shadows Lodge  ~  Misty Mountain Ranch  ~  Brooksong

The Maggie Valley B&B Association is much more than just a professional group of innkeepers with a business relationship.  Of course, we are all of those things, but more than that, we are friends.  This is the nature of the folks in this Valley - all the B&Bs are members, all the innkeepers are friends, we care about each other and each other's business.  In other cities, you'll find competition --here, you'll find camaraderie.  Since we are each unique from one another, it's easy to choose the kind of vacation you want and we're happy to refer you to the perfect B&B for you.  Timberwolf Creek is all about luxury and comfort and the tumbling stream.  Misty Mountain Ranch is family friendly with log cabins and a rollicking breakfast.  Smokey Shadows Lodge is a rustic mountain lodge with a fantastic view.  (You want to have dinner there no matter which inn you choose!) And Brooksong's Victorian elegance will leave you sighing.  All of us want to make sure that you - our honored guests - have a perfectly wonderful vacation, and we're committed to doing all we can to make that happen.  So, let us introduce ourselves, the innkeepers of Maggie Valley:

Maggie Valley B&B Association: Larry & Sandee, Timberwolf Creek. Cletis & Betty, Brooksong. Peter & Karen, Misty Mountain Ranch. Bud & Ginger, Smokey Shadows Lodge.

Meet The Innkeepers:  Larry & Sandee Wright

Larry & Sandee Wright, Maggie Valley InngineersWe call ourselves 'Inngineers' now that we've left the corporate engineering world behind in favor of life in these ancient mountains.  The Appalachians beckoned, and we heeded their call!  The dream that was Timberwolf Creek became a reality on July 4, 1998 - our Independence Day - and we've been honored and pleased to host a myriad of wonderful folks ever since.  Outside the inn, Larry stays busy helping folks with their computers and enjoying photography, and I (Sandee) have fun building websites, and working in the gardens. (Larry has fun watching me work in the gardens. I know I'm smiling in the picture, but that's because a lovely idea has occurred to me, about what to do with that bucket of compost...)

Meet the Innkeepers:  Peter & Karen Hession
Peter passed away several years ago, but I haven't the heart to remove his photo.

Peter & Karen Hession"Well, welcome to the most unusual bed and breakfast in these 50 states! Let us, Karen and myself (Peter) introduce ourselves. Karen and I worked together our entire married life. Karen says some 465 years to be exact... but says I, we have been happy for 6 months at least.

We retired from our last business June of 2000, and built the Ranch. We are both from the Chicago area. I came by way of Japan, and goodness knows I am great in a sushi parlor! Karen's family is from Russia and mine came direct from Ireland. (However, Karen kissed the Blarney Stone.) We have traveled our entire lives on business and what can I say about it?? We wanted to create something new and different and fun and relaxing and interesting - get the picture? Voila - the Ranch!"

Smokey Shadows Lodge
Rustic Mountain Lodge with a Long-range View

The porch, runs the full length of the lodge. An old porch swing has a prominent location. The view from the porch is nice, and many people come to the porch in slippers and bath robes (not provided) with cups of tea or coffee to watch the sun rise right outside the bedroom windows.  Inside the lodge, exposed beams and wormy chestnut walls dominate. The great room has a massive stone fireplace and time polished hardwood floors.

The main lodge has twelve rooms, cozy and rustic, with log-beam ceilings and stone-log walls. Each has a private shower.  No two rooms are alike.  Several have feather beds, and are accented with heirloom curtains.

Original Innkeepers:  Bud & Ginger Shinn

Bud & Ginger ShinnAs a child, nearly 70 years ago, Ginger would travel from Miami to Maggie Valley each year for vacation. Hikes in the surrounding woods, cookouts and bonfires, home cooked meals, scenic drives through the Smoky Mountains along the breathtaking Blue Ridge Parkway only minutes from the lodge, square dancing in the valley and great souvenir shopping were all cherished memories.

Over the years, Ginger and her husband Bud,  would continue to carry on the Smokey Shadows tradition. Until the day came that they decided to make Smokey Shadows their permanent home and have been reliving childhood memories every day since.
